Yesterday.......

I live in an area called "Tornado Alley"......we have them every spring/summer.......yesterday we had on ( it's freakin February!).....the technology of our weather men is beyond belief, they can tell you within seconds/minutes of when and where the tornado is heading.......yesterday we had an f-3 tornado (F-5 is the worst)......this tornado hit approximately 750 yards from our office building.......then we had more tornado's through-out the day....so from 2:30 pm until after 5:00 we were shuttled back and forth to the basement.......I am not afraid of tornado's....having been around them my whole life.......I do respect them after the worst tornado in American History hit the metro I live in May 3, 1999........wind speeds in excess of 325 mph.........when you fly in and out of our city, you can still see the path in wooded areas outside of the city..........yesterday the tornado's continued up until after 9:00 pm in our state... 8 people (and possibly more) were killed in a small town in the Southeast part of the state.....8 people some of who had at least 1 hour warning that the tornado was on it's way....either they ignored the warning or didn't have a safe place to go........I write this because every part of the world has it's own issue with nature.....California..earthquakes/wildfires......Florida/SE Coast/Gulf Coast.....Hurricanes.......North....snow/ice storms.....but when you hear the roar of nature and realize that you have absolutely no control other than to basically hide.....it makes you realize the many things you do have in your life......and how quickly a gust of wind can change it.........

Where is tornado alley and why do people want to live there??

Thank you Roguemelia......living where I do, while I don't fear the tornados, I still am amazed, even after having seen as many as we have........thank you for reading my story and taking the time to comment.......

Thanks PTMan,..............
Disovery Girl........it really isn't that bad, and unless it is in the middle of the night and they had no idea that there were storm possibilities....you almost always have a warning....you have to understand that the weathermen here are the highest paid people on the local news.....it is a cottage industry.......literally during storm season you cannot watch locat television as they will give you a 2 hour update that "nothing is actually happening"......
Dekers I am NW expressway/Rockwell.......it was a fun day.
