wo years ago I was driving a Toyota Tercel and was hit head-on by a Ford Explorer. The other driver was fine, but I was knocked out and my knee was smashed into the steering column. I had a pretty bad concussion and my knee was badly sprained with a bone-deep bruise. All things considered, I was very lucky. I still have problems with my knee due to a build up of fluid that displaces my knee cap. My biggest problem though is that since the crash I've been suffering with nightmares and flashbacks. I have trouble sleeping through the night. I wake up frequently in a panic due to reliving what I can remember in a dream. While I'm driving or riding in a car, I'll have flashbacks and I feel like it's happening all over again. I just want to be okay.

  | Posted Apr 10th, 2009 at 9:58PM I am really sorry. I was hit by a car while i was crossing the street when i was nine and i have knee problems as well i promise the frightfulness will go away with time i wish there was more that i could do but i hope my words are in some way comforting ! :)   |
 | Posted Apr 11th, 2009 at 1:36AM Thank you. I really feel like I don't have the right to be traumatized by what happened to me. It could've been a lot worse and I know people that have been through things that I would consider much worse and they're fine. I was starting to get a little bit better but right before the statute of limitations ran out the lady that hit me brought a lawsuit against me. It's actually going to trial in June. Having to talk to a lawyer and explain every detail that I remember just brought it all back again. It is comforting to hear that it will get easier with time. Thank you. |
 | Posted Jun 22nd, 2009 at 12:46PM It sucks to hear that there is a lawsuit over this. You will be ok. Perhaps you should try to work some of this out in therapy. I have PTSD from our wreck but not nearly as bad as my BF... he is almost too afraid to get in a car or drive. Perhaps a support group could help too. That's what I find the most comforting, talking to people who have been through a similar thing. Good luck, and I hope you can sleep soon. |
