Akira Got Me Hooked

The first anime I ever watched was Akira (the old version). Ever since then, I've been watching anime. I used to think it was silly, but that's because all I had ever seen was DBZ or Pokemon. I bought the full season of Neon Genesis: Evangelion, loved it. I watched all of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Loved them too. Watched Ghost in the Shell, which became one of my favorite movies of all time. Watched the GITS series, and was a little disappointed. Saw Appleseed, thought it was ok. Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away dazzled me. But, my most recent favorite has got to be FLCL. I just can't get enough of that ****. Absolutely hilarious.

Tetsuo was the man.<br />
And the Manga is even better.

I never understood FLCL, can someone tell me what its really about?

maowwww FLCL FTW hehe "whats under the bandade" hehe

Yes, Akira was and still is one of my favorites. If you ever have the time I would say to read the manga as it is 100% kick ***.

this thread made me go watch Akira again! it was the new version though, but during it we realized that the Kaneda's voice is the same as Ichigo's from Bleach, and when I looked it up to be sure (i generally watch Bleach in Japanese-so I wasn't entirely sure) I found out he also did the voice of Renton in Eureka, and that totally tripped me out, so now I have to go re-watch that too!

I had completely forgotten about Akira until i saw your post<br />
<br />
that movie used to be a religion to my friends<br />
<br />
we would all pile on the couch, and turn off all the lights in the house, unplug all the phones, and crank the volume<br />
<br />
the neighbors used to try to complain about it, but they figured out quickly that we were actually quiet when it was one, and they decided the music was better than loud metal and alternative and screaming and gawd knows what else we did back in my "wild days"<br />
<br />
i almost miss the old crew now<br />
<br />
i guess i need to go buy my own copy of akira now
