First Anime

My first anime was Pokemon. Yes, Pokemon. (And yes, Pokemon is technically an anime.) But although Pokemon was my first anime, it didn't bash into my head the necessity to watch more anime. I only watched it because at first Ash's adventures with Pikachu, Misty, and Brock were interesting and then when my interest in repetitive pokemon battles waned, I watched only because there was nothing else on. Cardcaptors was the first anime that made me long to watch other Japanese-animated shows. After Pokemon and Digimon there was Cardcaptors, which at my age and then lack of knowledge about the goodness and awesomeness of subs, seemed very cool to me. Magical cards and a perky 9 nine-year old girl inspired me to write my first fanfiction, where I wrote for hours about cheesy plots and cheesy fights involving Sakura and the gang. Around the time of my Cardcaptors-worship, I started using the Internet where I learned of Cardcaptor Sakura and ardent CCS fans such as Piggy Ho Ho who drew her own art and wrote a long and exciting fanfic about Sakura and Syaoran being transported to another world. I developed the desire to watch Sailormoon (I had been too young to catch the English-dub on TV), Ranma 1/2, Yu Yu Hakusho, and before long I was hooked to anime. And an anime fan I'll stay.
