m I the only person here who does? Surely there are others. Where are you all?!
I find it ridiculous that in this day and age there are still so few tv shows/series based around the lives of homosexual/bisexual people. It just illustrates the narrow-mindedness still present in our society today.
I can only think of three shows off the top of my head- The L Word (which I've never seen), Queer As Folk and Will and Grace... I'm sure there are more, but there are not many around.
There are shows that have a token gay character or who use homosexuality as a reason to joke..but very few who actually feature gay/lesbian/bi protagonists and I really think it is a shame. If we want the world to be a more tolernat place, we need to give these marginalised groups of people more airtime to express who they really are, rather than just accept the bullshit that gets said by the intolerant.

  | Posted Apr 2nd, 2009 at 9:23PM That's interesting. I understand that the UK version was the first and then it was copied for the US market...but I have never seen the UK one on TV. Only the American one has been shown here in Aus (to my knowledge). I wouldn't be at all surprised if the UK version is better though- not that I don't like the US version, just that from my experience, when the Americans try to copy an idea it usually turns out inferior to the original...with regards to tv shows. That's just my opinion though, I know plenty of you will disagree (if you ever bother to read this post).   |
