The Avengers = The Man's Version Of The Notebook???

I went to see The Avengers yesterday. Whoo hoo and ****. I went along with my husband and 8 year old son. As little as I care about anything remotely related to superheros, I was interested to see what all the fuss was about considering it made a gazillion dollars in 2 seconds. The movie was pretty much what I expected, I could see why it's so popular...just not my thing. I was thinking about how much more I'd rather be underwear shopping about 20 minutes into it. So by the time we were to the last 45 minutes of the movie, I was looking around the theater admiring light fixtures. It was then, when my head was turned to the side facing my husband, that I caught a glimpse of his face. He was smiling, ear to ear. I didn't think much of it at first, but it was almost like a face someone makes when they are just done laughing about something. I thought about it for a second and realized there was nothing funny or smile worthy that had just happened in the movie, so what was that face all about? I moved back in my seat a little, and turned my head ever so slightly to look at him once more without being noticed. AGAIN. Ear to ear, ****-eating grin. So I watched him for a FULL 3-4 minutes. The ENTIRE time this 31 year old man was cheesing like he was frolicking through a meadow of rainbows and butterflies. He might as well have been 6 years old, it was pretty ******* adorable. It gets better. So...on the way home, I decided I would mention this to him. I thought he would get a kick out of it, as I was sure his smiley pants reaction was completely the work of his subconscious. I start telling him about it, how I first noticed him smiling, then looked back and he was still smiling and continued to do so for a full 3 minutes. He did get a kick out of it, and didn't realize he was doing it. As we're talking about this I notice his eyes are filling with tears! Fighting back his tears he says, "Man, that movie....just everything about that movie...it's like every comic book I ever read growing up come to life." *tear rolls down cheek* We then continued home where I was educated on the entire history of Marvel comics for the remainder of the night and almost attempted suicide. Nostalgia...it's a powerful beast!!! :)
