Where To Begin?

Hello everyone,
I'm a very new member of al-anon, I started a little over two months ago. I find my meetings inspiring and fill me with hope, a little every week. They essentially keep me sane. I am the sole caretaker of my 52 year old alcoholic mother. I am 24 and studying masters at university. I am finding it extremely difficult to cope because my mother does not leave me alone. I need to learn how to apply step one, admitting I'm powerless over alcohol because at the moment my resentment is building and I randomly burst out with anger at her, how does one successfully detach, and how to I begin my path on the twelve steps?
Thank you for reading

I am new to Al-Anon also and am learning so much. Like you, I'm learning what it means to detach with love and to keep the focus on myself, etc. I think these will be life changing tools. Your situation sounds very tough. But I believe you can get help and grow and take care of yourself through what you gain at Al-Anon. Take care!

I to, am a grateful member of Al-Anon. Use the slogans...When things are feeling too intense use "Easy does it" and begin the steps "One Day at a time"...:-)
