I Can't Wait!
I'm really excited...I have gambled in a casino before because you only have to be 18 to gamble on the Carnival cruise ships. But this will be different...we're going to go into a bunch of different casinos since we're not staying at an actual hotel on the *****. We're going to stay in a nice but cheap hotel on the edge of town and just take a taxi into the city. There's this really good Cirque Du Soleil there (my dad LOVES those things) that he says is the best he's ever seen. Also, he's planning on taking me to a topless show (shhhhh...don't tell anybody!) and a bunch of comedy shows.
My dad called my mom today to break the news to her. She didn't much like the idea, but it's not like she could stop him, so she just accepted it. But then at dinner tonight, she and my stepdad had this long lecture to me about it. Nothing I didn't already know. Basically, don't throw all my money down the drain, set myself a limit of how much to spend, and don't sin. Except drawn out into an hour long lecture. And my stepdad said I would hear it again in November. As if I'm going to forget. Like I said, I already knew all that crap before they told me. Besides, my dad is going to let me use his money for everything. HE'LL be the one to set the spending limit.
There's one thing that I'M actually worried about. Just for some background information, my dad is really liberal socially and morally. Although he's conservative economically. So I'm not worried at all about the money part, but here's the thing. He's really excited that I'll be able to drink. He was talking about how we would start drinking when we get on the plane. To be honest, I'm excited about that too, but not as much as he is. Like I said, he's morally liberal, so he has no problem with getting wasted. I do. I'm not at all against the idea of getting a little "tipsy," but I don't want to get to the point where I lose control of my mind and totally forget everything I did the next day. For one thing, I'm a Christian, and the Bible says not to get drunk because it leads to debauchery, or reckless actions. It's not drinking that I'm against...but I'll tell you what I'm afraid of. Has anyone seen the movie The Hangover? I know it's just a movie, but seriously...I don't want to get in nearly as much trouble as they did! I mean, what if I just have one drink (that'll probably be enough to get me tipsy at least, considering I've never drunk anything worse than a small glass of low proof wine) and then wake up the next day having lost my virginity? Or what if I wake up with a concussion? I know I'm worrying way too much, but the main thing is that I don't feel like my dad would stop me from doing certain stupid things that other more morally conservative people would do...simply because he has no problem with it. If I was going with my best friend, I would feel comfortable drinking as much as I want, but I'm afraid my dad might want me to drink MORE than I want.
I'm worrying waaaaaay too much, aren't I?
Anyway, I still know I'm going to have a blast, and it'll be a great life experience! And as the old saying goes...
What happens in Vegas, goes on EP!

Posted Jul 19th, 2009 at 10:09PM GO have a blast, but you know when to stop. you should have a drink if you want to, but I am a Christian too. I didn't have my first drink or stepped into a bar until i was 34 yrs.old. I felt guilty for doing it. I went about 10 times and never went back. Just stay in control of what you drink. If your dad gets mad because you don't want to drink then he doesn't think that much about you. CONGRATS to your virginity. stay strong to your believes.
Posted Jul 20th, 2009 at 12:59PM I hope you have a wonderful, life remembering trip to Las Vegas. It's an amazing city. We took each of our daughters there for their 21st Birthdays too. They really had a lot of fun, but not one of us needed anything to drink. I understand your concern with your father and if it's worrying you that much, maybe you should just talk to him about it. It sounds like he's openminded enough to completely understand you. If I were you, I would drink very slowly and watch your father very closely. He's the one who might get way out of hand, from the sounds of things. I hope I'm wrong. You know you've had too much to drink when you start feeling it, because it just gets worse from there, unless you stop. GOOD LUCK & CONGRATULATIONS !!!! & HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
