Mother's Really Knows Best :))

There’s really something to mothers knowing best. After all, they carried us in their wombs for 9 months.And then what happens? We become fully our own selves and more often than not, forget that our moms have gotten used to their days spent and filled with nothing but our company.

I’ve personally seen that hurt look in my mother’s eyes, when I’d prefer being with others instead of her. Although there isn’t anything wrong about developing a mind of your own, as well friends, networks and connections, my fault in many of those times was I failed to assure her that my preferences don’t equate to losing a daughter.

For all that she’s done for us, is not perfect. Like any mother and daughter relationship, we’ve had a lot of misunderstandings in the past, too. We fought a lot, argued a lot, and hurt each other a lot with our words and actions. Most of them stem from her insistence that “she knows best” while I say “not.” But now I say, my mother really knows best.

Just received a text from her ;

" Anak!!! I love you and I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! You chose the right man, and most of all the right path of life. You are so blessed. I love you so much…thank you…so much too…"

My mom had previously disagreed with the decisions I’ve made in my life.

At first, she didn’t like Bry for me. Not for any personal reason, but just because she didn’t know Bryan then, and, well, like all parents I guess, she loved me too much that she didn’t think anyone was good enough for me. Today, she always makes sure to tell me that I couldn’t have married anyone more perfect than Bry. She acknowledges that she can’t see anyone loving me more than the way Bryan does. Most of all, I am so touched when she tells she loves him so much too.

But what do you know, I did make, not only the right, but the best decisions this time around! Although my mom could not see it in the beginning, my perseverance in the right path eventually bore fruit. Today, as witnessed by that text, my mom is finally assured that her beloved daughter, the one she would protect at all costs, is in good hands and grew a good sense of her own.

And this is why I say My Mom really knows best. She knew it was best to tell me that I did a good job going through those times when she didn’t know what’s best for me. She knew it was best for a daughter who’s always believed her mother to finally get her blessing and approval for the things she previously didn’t approve of, for she knows it would mean all the difference in the world for me.

Thanks for everything. I never thought I’d say the word everything while really meaning every single thing in my heart. Not only for what you have done for me, but also for the times you had to refrain from doing things for me. Thank you for raising me, as well as for the many times that you’ve trusted God while letting me go.

I know that to be a mom is already hard in itself, and I somehow made it extra hard for you. But thank you for putting up with me, as well as learning to trust me even after showing you many times in the past that I don’t deserve it.

I love you Mom , and I honor and cherish you! It is a privilege to be able to serve you,all the rest of my days .

 Happy Mother’s day!!!
