Thank God for grace!  My problem is doubt.  I believe in the "Once and for all" atonement that Jesus made for me on the cross, but I have a hard time believing that the whole Bible is the literal word of God.  I've read the bible with a reading guide partly and from cover to cover.  I've done in depth study of the scriptures as the Spirit led me, but I have a hard time believing that the same God who sent a she bear to kill a bunch of kids because they were making fun of a prophet for being bald, is the same God who tells me to love my enemies and turn the other cheek. There are a lot of very violent and misogynist scriptures that I have a hard time with. I'm afraid that the bible in the hands of some people is like a loaded shotgun in the hands of a five year old. I think a lot about one particular scripture  in particular when it comes to believing every word in the Bible is from the mouth of God.
Jeremiah 8:8-  "How can you say, "We are wise and the Law of the Lord is with us."?  Look!  The false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood."
David of Biblical fame was once walking with his troops, and a man was across a ravine from him kicking up stones and calling him a violent and wicked man.  Some of his troops offered to go and kill the man, and David told them not to, because God might have put those words in that mans mouth.
Well, I'm certainly no David, so feel free to speak your mind on this matter.

Hey.....Friend.....,God made man....God made words......God made man smart enough to put those words together.......So no matter how you say it........Those are Gods words.....For he was the one that thought them up in the first place

Thank you for your well thought out and helpful comments.
