Can I suggest the use of binarual beats - used alone and/or with meditation.

Meditation will train you to shut off the thoughts while it also causes the brain to change how it works (and the chemicals that it produces). Within 3 months, you will begin to notice how different the world is, but the daily changes are subtle - just as the aging process is

You people might like to look in on the website at http://www.desteni.co.za - this deals with this problem as well. There's no quick fix - its the mind-programming we're all programmed with; and its being pressed to the fore now so that we will become aware of it as something we MUST attend to and release, because of the cosmic processes at hand. People are likely to be driven mad with it if they don't face and learn to deal with it effectively...

Tree, I love your wit, but there's always some truth hidden behind it. Get the book. From what I know of you, it will resonate..........

Actually, I'm almost done with it. I'm going to read it again when I finish. Although I firmly believe in living in the Now, I haven't perfected the practice. It's also a learning process. I've found that I can't take 43 years of beliefs and life experiences and turn around the way I view them in a few short weeks.

What I wrote about above, is sort of a result of reading The Power of Now. Eckhart Tolle's words are what made me see that the thoughts running through my brain are like a narcotic.

Thank you so much for your insight. Enjoy the book--it's really something.

I just went to a discussion last night. It was on The Power of Now. It was all about how our minds are the cause of all of our unhappiness because they are either thinking about the past or the future. To train our mind to be aware of THIS MOMENT...the one right now is the challenge. I meditated last night with the group (for the first time) and at the end, she asked everyone if they had a problem at this very moment. My answer was no. My mind was blank. I was happy just to be breathing and to exist in the silence. I ordered the book this morning.

We are not our minds, it says. Once our mind starts thinking, we need to become an observer of it and watch what it's thinking about and therefore be unaffected by it. Our minds can't think/feel about two things at once, so when you step back, the thought you had is recognized and it disappears. The goal is to be present in the NOW. Read this bestseller, he'll explain better than I.

You have to make peace with it, the voices are with all of us. It's not easy to do and sometimes we all can't. You just have to know that they are there and sometimes there your friend and sometimes there the enemy, but please don't let the enemy win.
