Empty Lies... Makes Me Wonder

A person posted a story here on EP today -- Feb 10, that has been floating around on the Internet for months. In fact, I first saw it -- and the actual facts about it -- almost A YEAR AGO. It is would be laughable in its inanity, except that it keeps getting repeated.

What makes it so bad is that it is so clearly untrue, so easily disproved, that it makes me really wonder about both the:

a) motives

b) intelligence

of those who repeat it.

Now, the story itself is so totally STUPID when you read it

http://www.experienceproject.com/stories/Believe-Barack-Obama-Is-Dangerous-For-This-Country/904053

that it seems incredible that ANYONE could actually believe it in the first place. But, then again, as was said by Goebbles.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

You see, this crap is so easily disproved, so clearly a LIE, so obviously BULLSHIT, that it stands as a testament to either:

people's lack of intelligence or

their ability to be fooled.

For a full rebuttal of the LIE, just hop over to SNOPES and read it for yourself.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/occidental.asp

So you see, there is not a WORD of truth to this... it has been disproved... it is EASY to see how false this is, it is EASY to find the truth, and the truth has been out there for almost a year.

SO -- what does that tell us about the people who continue to post this bullshit?

Are they THAT STUPID?

Or, are they deliberately lying, conniving bastards?

Or both?

Addendum: The author of the post noted above removed the story. He did not admit that he removed it because it was proven to be FALSE -- he claims he removed it since it hit "a sore spot" with us "Obama lovers." Apparently it does not occur to the author that we might actually be lovers of "truth" and that malicious LIES are the "sore spot" with us.

Journalism students are predominantly Democratic because as with almost any subject the more educated a person is the more likely they are to be a Democrat. Look it up for yourself. Look up Pew Foundation Pools. I doubt that you would border to and if you actually did you might use the “educated elite” dismissal Republican like so much. When the facts don't agree with you fall back onridicule and fear mongering. A tried and tested approach that unfortunately is the most successful political tool.

The fact is that the higher a person’s score of political and historical knowledge the more likely they are to be registered as a democrat. Have you wonder why? If those that are most informed don’t agree with you shouldn’t that be a sign that maybe you’re wrong?

“Due process will end at Miranda rights” say what? THAT IS THE DUE PROCESS! We could just behead terrorists in public but that is the difference between us and them. We are supposed to believe in a system of law that is equitable to all - and yes - terrorists included.

There is nothing more dangerous to any society than to circumvent the law in the name of security.

Jeffrey, this story wasn't about political promises being broken, it was about repeating lies about Obama's birth and citizenship that have been clearly proven wrong. Saying that politicians who don't live up to their campaign promises are liars is pretty inclusive. I think it overuses the "l" word myself. These should be called broken campaign promises. But saying that Obama wasn't born in the US or that there was a provision for death panels in the health care reform bill--those are flat out lies. They need to be named as such and refuted.

Good post SaratogaGirl!
Unfortunately reality and the facts have little influence on human affairs. Human history is a series of repeated blunders. The internet and increased access to information seems to have done little to educate.

Believing this Obama government is difficult. Remember how Healthcare was going to be on TV but was actually hidden. This is not Right or Left. If one plays the campaign speeches, one can hear what was said. Then, they can compare what was said and what was done. Pick any issue of the last campaign. See what was said and what was done. At first, I believed. Now I want to belive what was said but I can't. After hearing that if we spend massive amounts of money, unemployment would not go over 8%. I want to belive that we do not have to listen to China, Germany, and other countries lecturing us over our financial practices - But apparently, we do. Factcheck and Snopes help and they are quite good.

Thanks Bisou -- that's very sweet.

................That doesn't mean I'm crawfishing!

I love reading your stories saratogagirl I always know they are going to be written well and have a true message.

Num Num... on the nut bowl... especially with a BIG glass of bourbon!

You make me smile UC.
Saratogagirl..................I'm sorry that a few conservatives are nuts.

It's a matter of semantics. The compiled information that would lead someone to believe that Barak Obama is not a natural citizen is volumes and very well written in many cases.

but we all know about 'appearances". They can be decieving. A person who wants to believe something can easily disregard a refutation no matter how convincing, especially if what is being challenged is conveyed in a convincing manner.

The birther and muslim "rumors" are NOT, of course, "rumors." They are malicious lies set out by anti-democratic forces determined to undermine the President. Calling them "rumors" is to be complicit with this.

The birther, and muslim rumors aren't necessary. The dangerous mistakes of Obama and the liberal democrats are in plain sight, and will be dealt with in November.

You guys rule! How silly to feel triumphant when that email is viral and has done so much damage. But we knocked it off EP anyway, and that's something! Much appreciation!

SG - You got it exactly.

The only result of pointing out the blatant errors in their forwarded emails is to be taken off some of their mail lists.

Maybe he can't check everything, but that doesn't mean you can't check ANYTHING!

Camera? Gunna film me masticating?

The poster of that story said he can't check everything. Oh, boo hoo.

heh, heh, heh

Wanna start with dinner and a movie?

Nope -- but if you want bliss, I can help you out. ;-)

So the Right Wing circular logic is: I believe this piece of utter bullshit is true. That impartial site says it is False. The same idiot who sent me the first piece of bullshit tells me that anyone who says the bullshit is actually bullshit is a no-good commie, therefore the TRUTH is nothing but left-wing propaganda.....
Many of my right leaning friends are convinced that snopes and factcheck are left wing organizations.

Why? Because an email from their other right leaning friends said so.

Sending them to those sights only increases their belief in the falsehood they have just read. The logic is something like if the left wing sights are calling it false then it must be true.

It is the Repugs' BORN TO RULE mentality that drives them to lie, Sara. They refuse to accept the will of the people -just as they did when Big W stole the Presidency from Al Gore, with the help of little brother Jeb. They lied to their back teeth then and got away with it, so they will lie and lie again.

We have had a similar media/internet/right wing slur campaign running against our Prime Minister here in Australia ever since he was elected late in 2007. These people have no shame.

At least most reputable news sources make some attempt to fact check....

It's common sense to CHECK YOUR FACTS before spouting off.

Snopes and FACTCHECK dot org are invaluable in sorting out the propaganda from the truth.

i can't remember if this is a story i posted here awhile ago or if this is one that i checked on snopes as well and decided against posting....i just recently found out about snopes

I have many friends who are politicaly to the right who forward emails much like the one in your story.

They are intelligent and good people but they forward such things without question.

It is like blind faith in what they believe and I doubt I will ever truly understand that part of who they are.

OK, OK, that is great, but I sweat too. It just smells bad.................

I think I may just fall into your arms....

Why... McNinja... I ... I.... I just may have to sit down here.... I'm feeling... warm.... and ... faint.

Oooo... and I'll bet you get all HOT and SWEATY at the gym.....

I totally agree with you....

Say... you available?

The repeating of bullshit lies, the extolling of stupidity, the elevation of know-nothingness.... FOR ***** SAKE, PEOPLE, do you LIKE being lied to? Do you LOVE the lack of education, of THOUGHT?

This hate-filled, vomit-inducing lying just makes me so tired.

I know they are both Sara.

Thanks Elfie....

Sara you are an awesome lady........... smiles
Oh and by the way I love the new dress.... makes you look.....................HOT!
