I Won't Be Adding Everyone Who Fans Me

What's The Rush?

Those random people who fan with no contact whatsoever don't count. It's not them that I'm addressing here, or anywhere for that matter.

It's the people who are polite enough to send a message saying hello - which is delightful in itself. :)

But that alone is not a guarantee.

Compatibility is key for me. It saves that awkward conversation down the line just before we remove each other. :/

Every single person in my circle is there for a reason. Every person is special, & I speak to them via Ep, email or phone regularly. They are my friends. Valuable to me. Loved by me. Not fair weather, fact.

Isn't that preferable to having seven hundred acquaintances?

So, speak to me!

It's not difficult now is it? Comment on my stories... interact! Show me that I'm not just a number, then maybe we'll be on to something. :D

Yes ma'am. I agree; I rarely add without previous interaction. It's nothing personal, but if I have no idea who you are, I really don't want all your stuff flowing through my feed.
Also, I find the times that I do make exceptions, I will get endless sexual comments and questions showing up in my feed. LOL... if I don't know you, no thanks ;-) Quality, not quantity.

I have stumbled across your story here by chance as I often look at stories at random.I have been saying pretty much the same as you for some time.I just can't understand why some people seem to "collect" friends just for the sake of doing so,it is madness in my opinion.
I like you select whom I want in my circle,I am very fussy befriending someone,I have to either like them or respect their input into the Experience Project.

Yes indeed!!! I'm always puzzled when people add/message me out of the blue, without having ever interacted by commenting on stories. I assumed they want something from me and I get wary.

  once you're in, you're in. Once you're out, you want to get in again, but you have to ask over and over and over again....and you have to work your *** off to "earn" getting back in.....and the bills keep on coming. And that is just getting use the garage.

Adding/fanning/circle can serve many purposes. It isn't always about direct interaction. For example, there is one person who is in my circle -- when I added them I sent them a message saying why -- we have never interacted at all, but I do so enjoy reading their answers to questions that it makes it easier for me to see when they have new answers. In other cases, it makes the possibility for real-time-chat possible -- even if it is only something we utilize irregularly.
The weird thing for me is the "removing from circle" concept. In my life there are many people I've known whom I consider friends, some of whom I haven't spoken with in decades. I see no reason to call them up to tell them that I have decided they are no longer a friend.

  Lol! What I mean by that is I'm not going to add just for the asking, only to find out later that we don't actually get along... There are people in my circle that I speak to only occasionally too. But they are still my friends. We have gotten to know each other as much as time has allowed.

  to me it is an interesting idea that friends wouldn't get along. i mean -- the people i value most as friends are those with whom i can have discussions in which we challenge one another and don't always agree.

  You haven't understood me... I mean I want to be able to genuinely call the person a friend before I add them to my circle. I don't add & get to know after. A person has to be interesting, unusual, intelligent, witty, & above all nice... & only having people around who see things exactly as you do is my idea of hell. Take a peek at my circle.
