Unfortunately My Mom Ain't Talkin

When I was conceived, she was married and her husband was stationed at an Air Force Base in Germany. I was born here in the states and he left after I was born. He is full blooded Cherokee and I am red haired, freckled and fair skinned. She married again and her new husband adopted me and my sister when I was 2. I have 2 birth certificates that list 2 different men and neither one of them is my father. I questioned my mother about this when I was nearly 20 but she threw a fit and told me to get out of her house. Her older sister told me that my mother had a boyfriend when they were stationed on the base and she even sent home pictures of her and him together. All my aunt remembers is that his name was Mark and he was a redhead. There's a good chance that he is actually my father but we'll never know since mum ain't ever going to fess up.
I would like to know so I can get some family medical history since I have health problems that no one else in my family has. I'm a grown woman and am not looking for another daddy or father figure in my life but I would like to know for certain so I know what other health issues I could develop. Even if I never find out, it won't affect who I am as a person.

I really feel for you in your situation viz. your biological father. I was in a similar situation - but my mother finally caved to my relentless questioning when I was 15. It still took me several years to bite the bullet & contact my dad. I'm glad I did - and, again, I'm sorry for the situation you are in. I can well imagine what it must be like.

There are many of us out there who will never know our fathers. I don't know about you but the mystery makes me strive to be a better person. The best thing to do is to take the power of this situation and use it to make yourself stronger. In actuality there is no stronger force than the bastard children of the world united. Lol my mom wont tell me either ;)

Thx Dog, but I think he knew all along that I wasn't his. He died 3 years ago so I can't ask him what happened or get his side of the story.

Good luck Miss Red. Just for your information, my great grandfather on my mother's side was full blooded Cherokee (my people are from OK), yet still we have bunches of redheads on my Mom's side of the family.
