Absolutely!I know so many couples who don't seem to be happy. They don't seem to try and work together. I feel at that point, why not get a divorce? I dont buy the 'it's for the kids" excuse. The kids often get caught in the middle anyway. Kids can sense things.
For me, I don't think I will ever stop working on my marriage. It's a joint project. You have to keep the communication open and the fun alive. When you can't laugh anymore or talk for hours or just enjoy doing nothing together, then you lost that spark. Why do so many couples forget why they got together to begin with?
The first rule of a good marriage is, you have to care about your partners happiness. They have to care about yours too? When you stop caring about each others happiness the marriage falls apart. It becomes a battle ground. Vindictiveness becomes the only communication you have. I know couples like that. Not only do they make each other miserable, but they make everyone around them miserable too.
Let's face it. when you are not happy, everyone can see it. Maybe it's time then to reevaluate your priorities. If you aren't happy being married, then be happy as a single person.
