Lightning Bugs

The air is warm
The grass it tall
Twilight is deepening
Come forth
My incandescent friends

Like a tiny beacon
In the dark of evening
You send forth your message
Searching, searching

Some call you fireflies
Lightning bugs to others
Glowworms, moon bugs
So many names
For such a tiny creature

Crawl up those blades of grass
Soar into the air
Look for your mate
Using your tail
Instead of your heart
