I Write Poetry
I gaze at you with eyes
that can’t express the vastness
of an inner distance of light-years.
I breathe in the universe,
and stars fall from my heart as I speak,
seeing the same distance and longing in your eyes.
At times there are no words,
and I ache or I burn for you,
yearn for you, speechless and ruled by desire.
There is something in you that I recognize,
though you can never express it,
something secret and almost divine,
something I too have known;
in dreams that make the sky seem shy,
of gentle wind and arousing thunder,
of a world with the heart of a child.
that can’t express the vastness
of an inner distance of light-years.
I breathe in the universe,
and stars fall from my heart as I speak,
seeing the same distance and longing in your eyes.
At times there are no words,
and I ache or I burn for you,
yearn for you, speechless and ruled by desire.
There is something in you that I recognize,
though you can never express it,
something secret and almost divine,
something I too have known;
in dreams that make the sky seem shy,
of gentle wind and arousing thunder,
of a world with the heart of a child.
