and sleep washes over me
benedryl induced slumber
is all i get these days
and midnight is
way too late
if i think i'm really gonna
make it
in the sunshine
speaking of...
darker mornings
make for longer naps
and fighting dreams
incorporating
bells and whistles
and cuckoo clocks
to justify
five
more
minutes...

  | Posted Jan 9th, 2008 at 5:41PM I love this, I can relate somewhat and I feel like your poem touched me, more than you can imagine. Its beautiful in a darkened medicated kind of way, nice.   |

 Feeling sad | Posted Aug 22nd, 2009 at 1:17PM the one thing I thought as I read this was turning this: "benedryl induced slumber is all i get these days" into this: "benedryl slumber all i get these days" There is something about that point of the poem that the brevity of the second set of lines that feeds and stays with the feel of the subject matter of the poem. And, I should say, I really like your poem :-) |
