I Write Poetry
Staring Into Headlights
Staring into headlights,
Slow motion is the status quo,
Unconsciousness shatters,
Death whispers let go.
Staring into headlights,
Blinded by the sight,
Knowing comfort exists,
Beyond those lights.
Staring into headlights,
Suddenly moved from harm’s way,
Death, Life, and I hold hands
Aware of one another, every night and day.
Staring into headlights,
Slow motion is the status quo,
Unconsciousness shatters,
Death whispers let go.
Staring into headlights,
Blinded by the sight,
Knowing comfort exists,
Beyond those lights.
Staring into headlights,
Suddenly moved from harm’s way,
Death, Life, and I hold hands
Aware of one another, every night and day.
