I Write Poetry
Going to pour myself another drink
Anything that’ll to help make me sleep
See it’s not my dreams that haunt
But it’s how far they’re out of reach
So I sit by the window
Watch the world go by
Pretend it’s not getting to me
Tell myself another lie
“It’s alright, it’s alright”
And for a whole damn year
I’ve been waiting here
Waiting for you to make your move
You stole my heart like a crook
While I trembled and shook
Don’t act like you had nothing to prove
So tonight I’ll flirt with danger
Cause it’s the feeling that I need
So damn tired of the fake things
And the memories that we bleed
So I look out the window
Drink some more red wine
Can’t pretend anymore
Nothing’s fine, nothings fine
But you and I we’ll be alright, alright.
And for a whole damn year
I’ve been waiting here
Waiting for you to make your move
You stole my heart like a crook
While I trembled and shook
Don’t act like you had nothing to prove
Well don’t worry, you proved it well
Now it’s a secret we dare not tell
Anything that’ll to help make me sleep
See it’s not my dreams that haunt
But it’s how far they’re out of reach
So I sit by the window
Watch the world go by
Pretend it’s not getting to me
Tell myself another lie
“It’s alright, it’s alright”
And for a whole damn year
I’ve been waiting here
Waiting for you to make your move
You stole my heart like a crook
While I trembled and shook
Don’t act like you had nothing to prove
So tonight I’ll flirt with danger
Cause it’s the feeling that I need
So damn tired of the fake things
And the memories that we bleed
So I look out the window
Drink some more red wine
Can’t pretend anymore
Nothing’s fine, nothings fine
But you and I we’ll be alright, alright.
And for a whole damn year
I’ve been waiting here
Waiting for you to make your move
You stole my heart like a crook
While I trembled and shook
Don’t act like you had nothing to prove
Well don’t worry, you proved it well
