It was always just me
hoping for more
than what was there,
always holding on to something
just out of my reach.
It was always just me
painting pictures
of our life together,
telling stories of our happiness
that faded with the sun.
It was always just me
holding together
the pieces of my heart,
trying to be strong
for “us.”
But there was no “us”
It was always just me…
