The Pity In Moments

impertinent time, you were and not are
you change with your own and you show no regard
as there in the doorway you flick your cigar
walk out as your shadow, outshining the dark.

but as for this house we will staunchly deny
that any one moment belongs to mute time
impertinent still as she turns on a dime
to change with her own into naught by design.

and see, as you do, there, my love, by the door
there lies pity and rapture
pity and rapture
sharing the cold on one wide cooling board.
