I Write Poetry
Last night
you were with me
I know it 'cause I could
Feel you
following me
Watching me close my eyes so I'd
See you
in the shadows
Leaning against a tree
Smiling
as I stumbled
Along the icy walk
Alone
and the floating snow
Teased me for a dance or two
I tried to dance back
But it was you
all along
It was
You.
I turned
every way
But each tree was
Vacant
and your absence
Became more and more
Present
my heavy lungs
Drenched in constant memory
Of unanswered questions
and unwanted news
But I knew
it was you
all along
It was
You.
