Let It Rain

...And its raining
There's not much more to say
The sky, like the concrete I walk on is gray
And the fog that's not going away
And my memories and dreams
When they turn a certain way

And the night is heavy
Seductive and deep
Like the tired glow of the streetlamp
That robs me of my sleep
Grow old mister streetlamp
Grow older just like me
To age in rusty stupor
To sleep, perchance to dream

And I'm walking in the rain
Ain't it funny how it drenches
But I'm walking all the same?
Funny how rain drenches
But regret drives you insane
Like every drop that comes to perch
Is another memory I've slain
And how aborted opportunities
Never actually go away

So let it rain tonight
As it always will anyway
For every drop that burdens
Is another life that's saved
Let it rain on me this night
While I can take the weight
Let it rain
Until the time is mine to prey

Great write. My particularly like the third stanza:<br />
<br />
"And I'm walking in the rain<br />
Ain't it funny how it drenches<br />
But I'm walking all the same?<br />
Funny how rain drenches<br />
But regret drives you insane<br />
Like every drop that comes to perch<br />
Is another memory I've slain<br />
And how aborted opportunities<br />
Never actually go away"<br />
<br />
for the way it compared rain to regret. <br />
<br />
Really, really nice. I love the images and feelings you made with this.
