Butterfly Caught EDITED

Eyes wide open

Unsteady breath

My fluttering heart

Taut, by strings I'm dragged by.

Utterly still, I should think of nothing else but escape

Only to find my thought centers around him.

What must my captor think of me?

Innocent, childish, silly

An object to be enlightened, not loved.

But I cannot blame him.

Who could ever love a butterfly caught?

Thanks :)

Besides stream-of conscious free-verse stuff, past experience is just about all I can write poetry about.."Taut, by strings I'm dragged by"!! DOPE LINE!

See, that wasn't so bad :)

Very good :)<br />
<br />
Well then, go on.<br />
<br />
:)

Wow. You made that up? It's wonderfully cheesy :)<br />
<br />
Oh, I know plenty of those too. "I wish my lawn were emo so it would cut itself."<br />
I got that one from a t-shirt :)<br />
<br />
Maybe ;)

:)<br />
<br />
Ha Ha. What about this one: "Is your last name Gillete cause your the best a man can get."<br />
<br />
I think it was more about the shock value :) I nearly choked on my orange juice when I heard him.<br />
<br />
You're right, but when I'm blushing, then realize I'm blushing- it keeps the blush on my face longer :)<br />
Oh, its an endless cycle :)

Mmm.<br />
<br />
I've never heard those before- very nerdy and very entertaining:)<br />
That fool was acquainted with her.<br />
<br />
That depends on what I'm doing and where I am at the time. If I'm sitting down I tuck them under my thighs or if I'm in public I try to cover my face. Blushing is embarrassing.

Yes I do :)<br />
<br />
Unbelievable, I know. Here's another one, and it's a little on the vulgar side.<br />
"I wish you were my homework so I could do you on my table"<br />
I was actually present when this one was spoken. Poor girl.<br />
<br />
*Still blushing.

I'm speechless :)<br />
<br />
Oh, I've got a surplus of unsuccessful pickup lines. I use them to humor people. This is my favorite: "You remind me of cheese...I LIKE cheese."<br />
That doesn't seem fair at all, then again life isn't fair. Your turn will come :) <br />
<br />
...For that I could kiss you.

Um, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to.<br />
<br />
Yes, definitely the one of the most memorable.<br />
<br />
Oh no…You’re full of it too! Just kidding :)<br />
<br />
That’s very sweet of you :)

YOU blanked? Whoa. <br />
What did you expect me to say? No?<br />
<br />
Tell me about it. It was so weird, it turned out to be a funny story though :)<br />
I found the "supermodel" line outrageous. The guy was obviously full of it (I'm thin, but not supermodel thin). I must say though it did keep me smiling the rest of the day :)

Good to know :)<br />
<br />
Mmm...what?<br />
<br />
One day at work, while I was stationed to greet the customers at the entrance, this rather tough-looking fellow kept giving me these cheesy lines. He called me beautiful and referred to me as the supermodel to his friend... I and made the situation that much more awkward by laughing at him. I mean, how do you respond to someone who calls you a supermodel? I had no I what to say. What made it worse is that the second or third time he came to the entrance to “ask me a question” Izzy happened to enter the store and overhear him hitting on me. She yelled “What?! What’s going on here?! Supermodel?!” and erupted into laughter. Then I laughed (even though I slightly offended) because she was laughing. The poor guy... it was so embarrassing. <br />
<br />
Weirdest part was- I’m not even sure how I attracted him because he looked like such trouble. I’m talking muscular build, shaved head, with a tattoo of the Puerto Rican flag, wearing jeans, a white wife-beater, and aviator sunglasses. He looked like a Vin Diesel wannabe. So tacky.

A majority of them do. Though there are some that come only from those who teeter over the edge of insanity and want ot fall in. <br />
<br />
This is great work, AB. You have a gift, to dot let it rot.

I cannot believe it. You got it. You got everything I wanted to convey. I mean, you caught everything I was feeling and thinking when I wrote it. They say the best poems stem from personal experience, right?<br />
<br />
I'm infinitely thankful L.

Wow. This is amazing. I take from it a sense of fright; a fright of being caught and captured by someone more powerful than you. But also in it, a sense of self-loathing for how you perceive him to think of you. Add a touch of desire to be wanted by the person who has captured you. a need to be wanted by him.<br />
<br />
I love the way this poem makes you feel when you read it. <br />
Good work AB.

Of course I will, anything to make my albums amazing :)<br />
<br />
Oh...how cute. Okay, you can stay... :) <br />
<br />
So far I've never met a person like that who wasn't trouble.<br />
<br />
Well, I always find it flattering but my plan of action really depends on the guy. Most of the time though, I'll act nonchalant, smile slightly, and go about my business :)<br />
<br />
Flirting, however, is an entirely different matter. I have a plethora of flirting stories from working at SYMS. Some are good, some are bad, and some are really outrageous.

I suppose they will :) This plan will free up my other aliases for the six volumes of dance music I intend to record in my mid-thirties :)<br />
<br />
Get Out of My Head :)<br />
<br />
"No boys who drink for the sport of it..." Check. <br />
You're correct. I can always tell, and to my dismay, it never gets any less awkward :)

Mmm not yet. Perhaps you're correct, Arabella is a perfect name ;)<br />
<br />
Thanks. I just need to relax :)<br />
<br />
Well, those distractions are another reason why I like St. Joseph's... but honestly, are most college guys like that?

I plan to have another alias. <br />
<br />
I have a good head on my shoulders, I just hope I don't over think myself right out of any majors. I'm more likely to do that :)<br />
<br />
Not a ton, but I won't be a stranger ;) I doubt I'll become a lesbian. Plus, I figure if I find a better school for me, my father and I are not opposed to me transferring out.

Yeah, something like that :)<br />
<br />
How curious. I'm going to think that over.<br />
<br />
My best friend's mother went to a women's college and dispelled the rumors for me. It's not full of Lesbians, for example. She also told me that meeting men wasn't a problem at all, you meet tons of guys at parties and in bars. <br />
What have you heard?

Creative writing major? It sounds appealing. <br />
Would you like to know my dream careers are? If I could be anything I wished I would be a photojournalist based in New York by day, and a kick-*** DJ by night :) Kind of similar to Leigh "Loveleigh" Lezark. I used to really admire her in freshman year.<br />
<br />
Yeah, every penny I can save is greatly appreciated. <br />
I searched for a college that would feel like the "right match" for what seemed like an eternity. I finally found everything I wanted at St. Joseph's College. Plus I was so over qualified to go there that I knew I would receive a ton of grants and scholarships...the fact that it's a women's college doesn't phase me a bit.

I just don’t want to think about majors anymore. It always leaves me anxious. I hate it.<br />
<br />
Really now? I mean St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, Connecticut. I’m staying close to home for now.

I just cannot decide. Everyone keeps telling me that I should study this, or take up that...I don't know where I see myself in a decade or so... I know what I want, but what I want is unrealistic and you just don't always get what you want.<br />
<br />
You too? My Dad tried talking me into becoming a Pediatrician a while back because of my love for kids.<br />
<br />
My best friend's older brother told me to start taking classes for my major first and second year so that later on I wouldn't be bombarded with all the classes that I need to do well in all at the same time. It makes sense...is there any truth to this?<br />
<br />
Saint Joseph's College :)

Thank you. I only considered lawyer because it would make my father happy.<br />
<br />
Apparently so...even my friends and mother knows I wouldn't make a good lawyer. My father just really wants me to be financially secure. I have to pick my classes for college soon, and he's trying to tell me I need to agree to Prelaw right now or else my first year will be worthless...

I recently found out that I no longer have a choice in what I major in. I have to study Prelaw, go to law school and become some type of lawyer, preferably Corporate. Thing is, the more I dwell on it, the more I don't believe I'm cut out to be a successful lawyer. I can barely bring myself to pay attention in AP Government. Law is so dreadfully boring...

You are very welcome :)<br />
<br />
Great. They wrote "Teardrop", the theme song for House :)<br />
<br />
I think you're correct. However I recently found out my future is already mapped out.

I did, it was wonderful. I think those lyrical essays are where you shine. <br />
<br />
Massive Attack would do wonders with it.<br />
<br />
I would love to be a part of the music industry but I don't have any talent...writing is my only talent.

Wow. Your work is amazing. I must say though "Extrinsic Beauty" is my utmost favorite. They would make amazing lyrics as well. That will always be a goal of mine. To write poetry that can be easily converted into lyrics.

Oh please do, I would love to compare :)<br />
<br />
Yes it is.

Thank you :) I still cannot believe I impress you!<br />
I was inspired by past experience and a particular song by Massive Attack :)

Thanks :)
