I love writing poetry in addition to my journaling it helps keep me sane. There have been many times in my life that I couldn't have expressed what I was feeling unless it was through my writing. There is a certain sense of accomplishment that I get and a sense of completion when I write a poem, tweak it to perfection and see the end result. This is the first poem I had ever shared in public and the only one that I have had published. Keep in mind this was many years ago when I first started to write. I hope you enjoy it!

Happiness   If all the thoughts that clutter my mind
came suddenly pouring out
I would be swimming in a river of time
filled with sadness, hope and doubt.

For in my mind lies all the truths
clouded by suspicion and fear
But amongst the clouds there's sun at the root
so happiness is near.

And time is but a figment of our precious
little minds
For when your happy there's not enough
but for sadness it's put in a bind.

And so we dwell and toss around
all that might have been.
And happiness, well it cant be found
because time has stopped again.

But here I am, and fight I shall
until my dying gasp
For happiness is an evasive gal
but is within my grasp. Amy Jo Breitmeier

it is a gift to be able to express yourself in this way....treasure it.....and yes it will be a legacy to your children and grandchildren someday....

Thank you!! I have over 80 notebooks filled with poems, stories and journaling that when put together make a beautiful outline of my life, my feelings, and who i truly am. Hopefully they will be my legacy to my children and their children. It's somehow consoling knowing that even when I am gone my work will live on!
