Travel Companion

Why are you sitting in the dust?

Where’s your honor?  Stand!

Of course this path is treacherous

Granite cliffs, monoliths

The top is further than it seems

Or did you think you would not fall?

This is a mountain, after all, and you are only human

And clearly you are weak

But time and fate are on our side

As we press on toward the peak.

I have seen the other side.

You won’t be disappointed.

This to me is about strength and perserverance and not giving up when its tough if you press on you will be glad you did not quit.

I loved your poem because I aslo write poetry. To me it kind of expresses the feelings of leading someone to the recommended side of the mountain where there is strength or peace of some kind that is waiting to be exposed upon them.
