My Mask

Masked

This mask I wear is just a disguise,

It won’t hide my body or my lies.

It acts as a barrier,

A barrier between myself and the world.

With it, no one can see the real me.

Hidden behind this mask,

They do not see.

They see the shell of a human body,

But not what it hides inside.

A past? A present? A future?

All possibilities without being able to know.

But meet me sometime and you will know,

Why this mask I wear never shows,

The true me and who I am.

I might just surprise you.
