I Only Hesitate To Ask

Tripping on words like it's nobody's business
A business of mine, though, that'll surely never close
Before all that I used to feel like a giant
The tallest one here on Earth

Then I woke up to realize I was no more than the size of a gnat
A twinkle in the eye of the beholder who was as blind as a bat
At least he couldn't see how I turned out to be
I only hesitate to think that

Fooling myself with liquid courage
A courage that was false from the start
Before all that I roared like a lion
The hunger gives the proper thirst

Then I woke up to realize I was no more than the thorn in its paw
A lesson that was strengthened by none other than a raven's caw
At least that's what I heard, Superman never flies that low
I only hesitate to guffaw

Tripping on words like it's nobody's business
A business of mine, though, that'll surely never close
Before all that I used to feel like a giant
The tallest one here on Earth

Thank you both. It means a lot.

Very zen-ish. The idea of realizing how small we really are in this vast world. You must be an old soul to have come upon this realization so early on in life.
