Restless Man

Like an eagle in a cage somewhere, clipped wings by his sides

You can read the secret dreams of flight that soar behind his eyes

He may stay a while and love you, let you feed him from your hand

Ah, but leave the cage door open, you'll find the eagle's spirit strong

deep within the heart of a restless man

a restless man is born to wander, it's in his blood, it's not by choice

his home's the sky above the canyons, his love's the wind's wild voice

he'll strike you deeper to the heart than any man you've ever known

and when he's gone you'll understand exactly what they mean by the word 'alone'

Like a mustang of the prairie someone gentles to the rein

he'll carry you if he cares to, but he can't be broken, he won't be tamed

one day he'll rise and taste the wind, and as quickly as he came

he'll throw off your memory like a wild horse free again throws off his name

You can read it in his eyes, and you can taste it in his kiss.

He's savage and he's free, and that's exactly what you'll miss

A restless man is born to wander, it's in his blood, it's not by choice

his home's the sky above the canyons, his love's the wind's wild voice

he'll strike you deeper to the heart than any man you've ever known

and when he's gone, you'll understand exactly what they mean by the word 'alone'

Oh, and when he's gone, you'll understand exactly what they mean by the word 'alone'

Great job!

This reminds me of the Lone Ranger riding off into the abyss of the deserts and forests

I guess its for some of us to never settle, always another rise" to go over, a far off call. I really enjoyed this read. Lane

Holy moly, woman... dunno what this poem touched off in me today, but ya really got me... good thing I habitually wear waterproof mascara... beautiful... wow...!

Thank you, WRC -

I will delightedly read your blog after I've had some sleep. And whether you know it or not (and I think you DO know it - old soul that you are) 'no personal experience with men' at this point in your life is absolutely the perfect place to be. "For every thing, there is a season..."
