I Write Song Lyrics, Poetry, and Short Stories
Pillar of Fire
In honor of my late, beloved earthly father, and the gifts he gave.
Not for me to understand, every gesture of God’s hand
All will be revealed in keeping with His grand, eternal plan.
But He Who sees the sparrow fall always hears me when I call
And He’s there to stand beside me when my back’s against the wall.
He’s the pillar of fire that guides me through a dark and dangerous night,
And when a lonely dawn is breaking, He’s the morning star’s warm light.
He’s the Author and the Master of a universe so grand
But so tenderly He cradles me in the hollow of His hand.
The world’s attractions speak so loud – and I’m weak, and vain, and proud.
Still, it’s God’s voice that I hear when I’m defeated, my head bowed.
Though I wound Him, still He’s there, and He assures me of His care
He leads me to the fountain of Life and renews my spirit there.
He’s the pillar of fire that guides me through a dark and dangerous night,
And when a lonely dawn is breaking, He’s the morning star’s warm light.
He’s the Author and the Master of a universe so grand
But so tenderly He cradles me in the hollow of His hand.
He commands ten thousand angels, and He calls them each by name.
He keeps this old world spinning through the flood, and through the flame.
He speaks in the sound of thunder, and He holds the stars in space,
But so great is He, He cares for me, and redeems me by His grace.
He’s the pillar of fire that guides me through a dark and dangerous night,
And when a lonely dawn is breaking, He’s the morning star’s warm light.
He’s the Author and the Master of a universe so grand
But so tenderly He cradles me in the hollow of His hand.
