Mine Is Basketball

 *EDITED*: I just uploaded this pic of me on my 8th grade basketball team. Can you spot me? lol

I am talented at basketball. I'm not much of an athlete next to college level basketball players, so I wouldn't be able to compete effectively at that level, but I would be more than able to hold my own at say a 3 point shooting contest.

I typically go to the gym about 3 - 5 times a week, and whenever I go I shoot 3 pointers in a few sets of 100 so that it's easy to keep track of my percentage. Typically I make between 70 & 75. 80 is a really good day, and the highest I've ever done is 88.

I also shoot freethrows in sets of 100. Typically I'm between 85 & 90, and 95 is a really good day. I've only managed it once, but I did make it to 105 makes without a miss.

And I did make another vid, it's my last blog entry. That time i managed a perfect streak. <br />

Strange how a smoker would like running.

Lol, good stuff!<br />
As for your athletic-ish history...I never really hit that "Oh I gotta get good at something physical"<br />
<br />
....hence why I'm a comsci major, was a technician in the navy, and other than standard PT or a game of whatever among friends...I could give a crap...<br />
<br />
...except for running, I never did mind running, despite me being a decade-long smoker.

I made a vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ExAHG9LDjE<br />

This was a pretty low shooting percentage for me, but I'll make a better one later :P

Oh yes, that is I in all my manly studliness. hahaha... good times. That was back when I was way chubby, I couldn't even fit in the regular unis so I had to wear that strange off yellow thing lol.

Woohoo - we won! And I also managed to be high scorer with 15 again. After the game we all met at the casino that sponsored our team and had a good time. It was very satisfying, despite the fact that I was very frustrated at going 4 - 8 on freethrows. When I kept missing freethrows my wife told some of the other pla<x>yers sitting on the bench that I get pissed if I don't shoot about 90% from the line. She was right :)

I'm sure that's quite the picture lol

I was a retard the other day and played basketball for about 5 hours. I'm much too old to do that kinda thing now, and I'm paying for it with severe pain in my right foot that's making it hard to walk much less run. But tonight's the final game so I've gotta go all out, even if it means I'm stuck on crutches for a bit lol.

We won our 2nd "playoff" game tonight. Again it was a pretty easy win. Ended up with 18. It's so much more fun when you win :)<br />
<br />
Our "championship" is next Tuesday night. Last year we made it to the championship as well, but we lost. I had a terrible game that night, I didn't make a single field goal and my only points came on my 10 for 10 free throw shooting. I don't plan on letting that happen again this year.

Everything's relative in sports. I'm on a city league team and we just played tonight. We won the game handily, probably by 25 points at least. I ended up with 15 points, 3 of 4 from three, 1 of 1 from two, and 4 for 4 from the line. It was a lot of fun.

Man, I always thought that I was a good shot. I do not think so anymore. :P This is a really great story. I like.

When I was growing up I was always the fat kid. Fattest kid in school, all the way up through 8th grade. I cannot remember ever weighing less than 180 pounds. <br />
<br />
I started playing basketball when I was about in the 5th grade. I was badly overweight, but when you're that age weight can be a big asset. I was also on the taller end for my age, so I was always a "big guy" in basketball terms (forward/center)<br />
<br />
In 8th grade I got a little more serious about playing and exercising. The summer after 8th grade I decided I was done being fat. So I spent the entire summer playing and shooting basketball all day in the heat. I'd put in anywhere from 6 to 8 hours of playing a day, with breaks for lunch and dinner. <br />
<br />
That was my summer vacation that year. Some days I'd head down to the basketball court in the morning, other days I'd make it there in the early afternoon. Everyone in the trailer park I grew up in got to know me as that kid who was playing basketball every minute of daylight. A neighbor of mine (who later became perhaps my best friend) got used to hearing me dribble the ball up the street when it got too dark out to play. <br />
<br />
Anyways, I grew a few inches that summer and lost a ton of weight playing basketball, and I got to the point where I was quite good. Out of the gang of kids that would frequent the courts, I was undoubtedly the best pla<x>yer among them. Been playing regularly ever since. Good times. <br />
<br />
I really don't know how many hours I've put in to shooting hoops and playing basketball. I'm sure I've put in way more than many pla<x>yers in the NBA. I was just never blessed with the athleticism, size, and speed necessary to compete at the elite levels. For an ordinary person though, I'm an all star. <br />
<br />
Haven't been fat since. But I still haven't been able to get under 180 pounds.
