Do you know the Beach Boys? A pop group from the 60's, California sound, surf music, heavy on harmonies, they were all related so you know how that goes, the voices blend so beautifully.

The Dad was a tyrant, a stage father and a bully. Brian Wilson up there was the composer of the music and at one point got heavily into drugs, no doubt trying to assuage the pain of his childhood but really a sweet sweet sweet song writer. He lost his mind, literally, the drugs took it. He hears voices to this day, hears things that no one says. He needs constant supervision. This video is from a documentary that chronicles the attempt to stage his great masterwork, one that was never completed. The audience loves him. They felt his soul a long time ago and never forgot it.

On a more personal note.....my cousins and I spent every summer of our youth at the beach. Sand, sun and surf...we listened to music all day, on our little transisters or at home on the turntable....The Beach Boys were constant....my cousin John turned me on to tons of music, we listened to so much together.....he is gone now, taken way too young, drugs as well....when Wilson sings "Are you sleeping, Brother John?" I can't hellp but wonder myself.
