Discipline, Self Control

Many people have many concepts of what discipline is.   However, what It really is, is self control.   When GOD asks us to obey, He is asking us to use self control in our thoughts and feelings.  He has provided us with great guidelines teaching us what is right and wrong in His eyes, to give us boundaries [discipline] in our life.   It also teaches us humility.

Job 5:17 Happy is the person whom GOD corrects! [disciplines]  Do not resent it when he rebukes [disciplines]you

Psalms 50:17 You refuse to let me correct you; you reject my commands.

Proverbs 6:23 Their instructions are a shining light; their correction can teach you how to live.
Proverbs 15:33 Reverence for the LORD is an education in itself. You must be humble before you can ever receive honors.

1 Corinthians 7:9 But if you cannot restrain [self control] your desires, go ahead and marry, it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
1Corinthians 9:25 Every athlete in training submits to strict discipline, in order to be crowned with a wreath that will not last; but we do it for one that will last forever.
1Corinthians 11:32 But we are judged and disciplined by the LORD so that we shall not be condemned together with the world.

 Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 humility and self control.

2Timothy 3:3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self control, fierce without love of goodness.

[the above is speaking about people in the last days.]

2Peter 1:6 to your knowledge add self control, to your self control add endurance, to your endurance add Godliness.

Hebrews 12:5-6, 11
5  My Child pay attention when the LORD corrects you, and do not be discouraged when he rebukes you.
6 Because the LORD corrects everyone HE loves, and disciplines every HE accepts as a child.

More excellent guidance that You have provided us so we may continuously work on getting closer and closer to You.  This guidance on discipline [self control] not only helps us with our relationship with You, Most High, it also helps with the relationship we have with ourself, which filters out to everyone that walks in our life.   We thank you for Your love, because it is through Your love, that we are able to live and continue to learn about You.
